Laxalt Campaign Calls on Cortez Masto to Return Money from Lobbyist of Chinese Company Labeled National Security Threat
RENO, NV – Today, Republican U.S. Senate candidate Adam Laxalt’s campaign released the following statement after a news report revealed Senator Catherine Cortez Masto received a large donation from a Washington, D.C. lobbyist for Huawei, a Chinese telecommunications company labeled by the FCC as a national security threat for its ties to the Chinese Government. Huawei is currently under investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice and stands charged with serious crimes.
“Catherine Cortez Masto’s losing campaign is being bankrolled by a lobbyist currently working for a Chinese government-connected company,” said Laxalt campaign communications director Courtney Holland. “While she’s using this money to spread false attacks about Adam Laxalt, Cortez Masto is cozying up to a lobbyist helping to undermine America’s national security. She should return this money immediately. Nevadans should vote for Laxalt to protect our democracy from Communist China and stop Cortez Masto’s corruption.”
Today, Cortez Masto’s campaign refused to comment when asked whether she will keep the money she received a few weeks ago from Huawei’s lobbyist.
Last week, the DOJ announced charges against Chinese spies who were trying to obstruct the investigation into Huawei.
This is not the first time Cortez Masto has taken money connected to foreign governments. She previously took money from Hunter Biden after he inked a deal with the Bank of China, joined the board of Ukrainian gas company Burisma, and received a large wire transfer from a Russian billionaire.
Cortez Masto has refused to say whether her husband worked for any of Hunter Biden’s foreign business connections.
Cortez Masto previously said, “I am going to be there 100% for Joe Biden.”
